This Safe Doc feature has been replaced by Google Meet’s built-in Mute all button, introduced in 02/17/2021’s update Mute all Google Meet participants at once.

Google Meet is missing a critical feature to allow teachers to one-click mute all students. Instructors' presentations are often disrupted by students cut-in, or various of background noises. This issue is in a huge demand since the start of covid-19.

Apparently asking instructors to mute each student one by one in Google Meet is unrealistic and a waste of time.

The magic "/muteall" chat command

As a teacher, you may simply type /muteall to the chat panel. Safe Doc will mute all students at once.

  1. (Admin): Deploy Safe Doc to your students' Chrome devices (Chromebooks or Chrome desktop browsers).
  2. (Admin): Disable Chat in Google Meet (Recommended)
  3. (Teacher): Initiate a Google Meet session and invite students.
  4. (Teacher): Open the Chat side window.
  5. (Teacher): type message /muteall and click send.
  6. All students are muted.

Q: Why to disable chat in Google Meet for students?

This avoids students from mistakenly initiating the /muteall command too.
