Upgrade (same billing term)
When you need extra monthly action quota, you need to upgrade your subscription to a tier with higher quota.
Upgrading your subscription is restricted to the same billing term, namely monthly => monthly or yearly => yearly. Such action will not change your billing cycle.
The upgrading is immediate. You will receive a prorated bill for the upgrading. The new plan will be effective immediately, i.e. more monthly action quota. The new plan will renew and bill in full at the end of current billing cycle.
Downgrade (same billing term)
If you do not use many actions monthly on your plan, you may choose to downgrade your subscription to save some cost.
Downgrading your subscription is restricted to the same billing term, namely monthly => monthly or yearly => yearly. Such action will not change your billing cycle.
The downgrading is immediate. You will receive a bill with no charge for the downgrading. The new plan takes effect immediately, i.e. less monthly action quota. The new plan will renew and bill in full at the end of current billing cycle.
Schedule (Change the billing term)
If you need to switch to a different billing term, namely monthly => yearly or yearly => monthly, the subscription change is scheduled for the end of current billing cycle.
Example 1
If you switch from a monthly billing to a yearly billing at June 16, 2020 (the current billing cycle is June 1 - June 30, 2020), the subscription update will be scheduled at the end of June 30. The current plan keeps active for the rest of billing cycle June 16 - June 30.
Example 2
If you switch from a yearly billing to a monthly billing at June 16, 2020 (the current billing cycle is May 1, 2020 - Apr 30, 2021), the subscription update will be scheduled at the end of Apr 30, 2021.
No invoices are created for setting up the subscription update schedule.
Upgrading or downgrading the current plan is not allowed when a subscription update schedule is attached. Instead, you need to delete the schedule first, apply upgrading or downgrading, and reschedule.
Cancel the subscription update schedule
A subscription update schedule can be cancelled in the same Settings > Billing page before a new billing cycle starts. Deleting the subscription update schedule won't impact your existing plan. Your existing plan will renew and function as usual.
How Proration works
An one-time prorated bill occurs when you upgrade the subscription plan in the same billing term.
Proration for monthly => monthly billing
For upgrading between monthly billing plans, the prorated amount is
the price of new plan - the price of current plan
For example, if you upgrade from Professional 1000 ($10/month) to Professional 5000 ($38/month) in June 18, the prorated price for the remainder of billing cycle (June 18 - June 30) is $28.
Proration for yearly => yearly billing
For upgrading between yearly billing plans, the prorated amount is
(the number of unfinished months) * (yearly price difference) / 12
For instance, you have a yearly billed plan Professional 1000 ($110/year) with billing cycle May 1, 2020 - Apr 30, 2021. Now you upgrade the plan to Professional 5000 ($418/year) at June 18, 2020. The prorated bill is (11 month) * ($418/year - $110/year) / 12 = $282.33, for the rest of billing cycle June 18, 2020 - Apr 30, 2021.
